Your First Drum Fill

A fill is a short break that signals a new section is coming. The easiest one: leave the groove on beat 4 and play four quick snare hits.

Play it yourself — keyboard or your own kit

1. Play the basic beat for the first three beats of the bar.

2. On beat 4, drop the groove and play four fast snare hits (steps 12, 13, 14, 15). That burst is your fill — it tells the band a change is coming.
